Darlene DiDomineck
Darlene DiDomineck, new to the White Plains community, will be serving as the Coordinator of Ministries for Memorial United Methodist Church. Her background is in faith based anti-poverty work, bridging the gap between communities of privilege and communities of the poor. Much of her work utilizes storytelling to build communities of solidarity. Darlene’s work is framed by the concept that storytelling is the root of justice making. She believes when we begin to tell our own stories and open ourselves to hearing the stories of another, change is possible. Hear about her experience in community building and share your own stories of struggle and change.
Tuesdays @ Dorry's gathers "conversation partners" weekly for informal table talk. There is no charge. Order food at 5:30 p.m., and then enjoy a stimulating program from 6-7 p.m.
Tuesdays @ Dorry's is coordinated by Dorry's friends at Memorial United Methodist Church, Congregation Kol Ami and the White Plains Times.
Sunday School Photos April 19
New Memorial member Steve Morton, a professional photographer, will take photos of our three Seasons of the Spirit Sunday school classes during their classes Sunday, April 19. Mark your calendars now so we can have all teachers including youth teachers and children on hand that morning. The photos will be posted in their classrooms and can be made available to individuals for purchase on Steve’s website if families want them. For a sample of Steve’s work, check out photos of Memorial Early Childhood Center teachers on the bulletin board at the entrance to the center.
Movie is cancelled
The Memorial Movie for the last Friday of May has been cancelled.
The Church and World Journey Group will start up the movie series in the fall. They cancelled the movie responding to the question, "Is there too much going on at MUMC on the last weekend of May?" They hope people will make a commitment to attend the covenant worship service and picnic on Sunday morning.

Memorial Needs Communications Volunteers
The position of Coordinator of Communications at Memorial, held by Lisa Hamm-Greenawalt for years, has been cut for budget reasons. We have also cut the monthly newsletter. Rob Pace, chair of the Memorial Experience Journey Group, is looking for volunteers to gather with him and Pastor Joe to brainstorm how we will do our communications ministry. A year ago we went to an all-volunteer children’s education ministry (over 30 volunteers), which is coordinated on a volunteer basis by Dana Jones. We hope to develop a similar model for communications. Can you write, take photos, contact media, make posters, edit, plan promotional campaigns, implement Internet strategies, etc? We need you. Send an email to
Rob Pace if you can join with others to communicate the story of Memorial. We plan an Internet newsletter that also will be sent monthly, by US mail, to people who are not on the Internet.
Lisa has moved to Colorado (3109 Moonshadow Ln., Evergreen, CO 80439,
lisahg@gmail.com).

MIND Meeting April 19
Join Methodists in New Directions for its next meeting, Sunday, April 19, from 3-5 p.m. at Memorial. The group will be planning its annual conference witness.
President Dorothee Benz says: “We have exciting news about our speaker this year and an unprecedented opportunity to make this our most powerful witness ever. More details coming soon, but put April 19 in your calendar now – this is one meeting you don’t want to miss, and we need everybody’s help!”
Methodists in New Directions (MIND) is a conference-wide organization of United Methodists working to end our denomination’s doctrinal prejudice and institutional discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and committed to living more fully into God’s radical welcome right now and right here.
